For Sunday: Donovan sings “Starfish-on-the-Toast”

Donovan-a_gift_from_a_flower_to_a_garden

Here, from a very long time ago (1967!), is a drowsy Donovan song about the beach in midsummer, and looking for shells, and seagulls “pillaging the town.”

It’s lovely.

Enjoy.

I’ve always been a fan of Donovan, who grew up in Hatfield, a town very near to where I live in England. I haven’t heard this one for ages so I enjoyed it. Do you post your music on here like pictures? or do you link to another site? I’d love to be able to put some songs on my pages from time to time.

    • I usually upload a link to something like YouTube, but sometimes the song is so heavily copyrighted that it won’t play on any other website – they booby-trap it somehow. It’s easier to upload the file, if you have a CD or a digital file. (Note: it took me a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked and what didn’t. The easiest way, as I said, is find the song on YouTube, copy the “embed” code (it’s hidden under the “share” button), and put the embed code in the text of your blog. It usually works right . . .
